past life regression therapy

Past Life Regression is a gentle form of hypnotherapy which takes an individual back through time to their previous lives or incarnations by accessing memories and experiences that are normally hidden in their subconscious mind. Life today is so busy and so ‘noisy’ that these memories are usually concealed beneath the noise of everyday thoughts. A PLR session guides you out of the noise and into a deeply quiet and peaceful state where it’s far easier to locate the memories held in your subconscious mind.

WHAT IS PAST LIFE REGRESSION (PLR)?

PLR involves exploring memories from the past. Some experience memories from early childhood, infancy, a life different from the one they’re living now, or the space between lives. Clients can “relive” or observe these memories using any or all of their senses. The memories often contain an emotional wound or mental health issue that has never healed or been resolved, or a lesson that can help alleviate emotionally, and sometimes physical symptoms.

If my client chooses this method in our therapy session, I use gentle relaxation and guided imagery techniques to help tap into the subconscious mind where these memories reside. The person going through the process remains in control of themselves at all times. They cannot be made to do or say anything and can end the session whenever they want. Clients do not need to believe in reincarnation to be regressed. Most people describe the process as a very positive experience; relaxing, peaceful, and like a weight is lifted from them.

Philosophical Assumptions to Consider

The physical, spiritual, and emotional levels are not often in harmony or aligned with each other, and states of dis-equilibrium or dis-ease are created.

We are multi-leveled conscious beings with many levels of awareness, ego states, and past life scenarios, actively at play at any given moment in time.

We have an innate drive or instinct toward wholeness, integration, and equilibrium.

Past life therapy enables a therapist to move a client to explore deeper parts of the psyche. The process allows a client to understand his/her inner, emotional, and attitudinal matrix that unconsciously influences his/her physical and motivational system.

Because these life scripts, problems, and lifestyle patterns are replicated on many developmental levels, we can approach the resolution of these patterns in many ways and at different levels, such as in the current life patterns, or the peri- or pre-natal experience, or past life experiences.

Past life therapy’s primary concern is not only in the alleviation of symptoms, but also focuses on the dynamics and attitudes that support the systems. The mental, emotional, and physical levels often need to be examined for symptom relief.

The primary aim of past life therapy is to help the individual to live a more integrated lifestyle, to live in the here and now, to realize his/her connectedness to the universe, and to participate in the creative process that gives meaning to each moment of awareness.

Therapeutic Assumptions to Consider

Presenting problems, symptoms, and situations are not what they appear.

Insight does not necessarily bring change.

Past life patterns are utilized to understand and to retrieve unconscious motivational factors.

Resistances are reactive patterns that need to be examined in the therapeutic process and may indicate important episodes to be explored.

Physical, emotional, and mental patterns, whether pathological or healthy, are functions for the development of the individual.

There is a transcendent function within the psychological make-up of the individual that knows the origin of the problems and the resolution of those problems.

DO PAST-LIFE REALLY EXIST?

There are a few people who see a few past lives with completely verifiable information, and some even meet their past life relatives and comfort them. But these are not so common, and the average past life memory will usually have little or no verifiable information at all.

Many people wake up after a past life regression and feel that they have imagined the whole thing – even with the most famous therapists in the world. This is common as we are not used to separating fantasies from retrived memories. Typically, your therapist will be able to help you tell the difference. But in totality, whether your ‘past life’ was real or imagined really does not matter. What really does matter is, irrespective of whether past lives are real or imagined, they heal. And the power of this healing is so tremendous, that it has now become a rage among logic-loving Westerners too, as well as scientific psychologists and psychiatrists. Many of these therapists don’t even believe in past lives, but they know that past life regression works like nothing else!

Learning Path

It doesn’t matter. As long as you are open to the idea and are willing to explore, you are eligible for a past life regression therapy.

No. On the contrary, PLR is a technique used to resolve fears. Many often fear that they will see something that they do not like, in their past. To this there is a simple reassurance – what you see is guided and edited by your subconscious mind – and your subconscious mind will not show you anything which you are not prepared to see. So, relax. PLR is a very pleasant, uplifting and energising experience. One visits previous lifetimes to resolve the root causes of present life patterns or problems, and wakes up to a better and more beautiful life.

It is completely safe to explore past lives. Before you attend a session, it is recommended that you practice a few times with an online video. This will improve your chances of seeing a past life in your very first session, and also the clarity and detail with which you see it.

past life regression

Past life regression therapy is used by some physicians in cases with some mental diseases. Anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and gender dysphoria have all been treated using life regression therapy by some doctors on the assumption that they reflect problems in past lives. Although it is not supported by psychiatric associations, few medical associations have actually condemned it as unethical. In this article, I argue that past life regression therapy is unethical for two basic reasons. First, it is not evidence-based. Past life regression is based on the reincarnation hypothesis, but this hypothesis is not supported by evidence, and in fact, it faces some insurmountable conceptual problems.
